22nd August 2015 at Dale Lodge Hotel, Grasmere, Lake District, Cumbria
Patrick and Polly love the Lake District, fact. That's why they booked their wedding 231 miles from their home address there, in the small but absolutely beautiful town of Grasmere. And in true Lake District form, the weather was interesting to say the least! We had sun, rain, more sun, lots more rain, some thunder, then some more sun, and then around 8pm were treated to one of the best thunder and lightning storms I have ever seen!
Luckily, I had already taken Patrick and Polly to a viewpoint I had scouted a few days earlier, and got some photos during the drier part of the day, that on a personal level, I am massively proud of - they are a sort of cross between wedding and landscape photography!
Their wedding was spent with close friends and family at Dale Lodge Hotel, a lovely family run hotel near the Langdale Valley. They had put up a marquee which had been decorated by the always superb SuretoSurpriseYou with vintage crockery, birdcages and table decorations - it really looked brilliant!
Their guests, mainly from "dahn-sarrrf" were treated to home made alcoholic punch (and non-alcoholic for the kids!), afternoon tea, copious amounts of red and white wine, and homemade cupcakes which looked delic, and of course a taste of the great Northern weather! Many had decided to spend the week in The Lake District, with planned walks ahead.
Anyway, enough rambling (pun intended!) here's some photos from their day:
