At The Gibbon Bridge Hotel, Chipping in Lancashire
Samara and Mark had some amazing luck on their wedding day. All week prior to the wedding it had been cold, raining and blowing a gale. The app on my smart phone kept telling me that on Thursday the weather would be good, however looking out of the window it was hard to believe it. It was literally the black sheep of the week, a day of sunshine, surrounded by a week of 80% chance rain and gusts.
The day finally came, and upon drawing the curtains at 8am, I saw blue skies.
Samara hadn't looked at the weather forecast all week, in fear of getting upset.. but when I turned up with a huge grin on my face, asking if she had seen the clear blue skies outside, her face lit up!
The wedding took place at Lund Church, in Clifton near Preston, where Samara and Mark had a harpist playing throughout the ceremony and a choir for the hymns. Following the ceremony, everyone headed upto Gibbon Bridge, which is a fantastic little venue up in the hills near Longridge, in Chipping. I had been looking to photographing this venue since going with Samara and Mark there earlier this year to check it out.
Gibbon Bridge looked absolutely amazing. All the flowers were out, and the gardens were meticulously kept - I think everyone was impressed!! This place is a photographer's heaven, literally. My mind was spinning within minutes of walking into the gardens, with ideas and potential photo locations we could use to awesome effect.
Needless to say, the rest of the day was fantastic and enjoyed by all. The photos just created themselves and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph.
The highlight of the day (for me) was Samara and Mark's rendition of the thriller dance after their romantic first dance. They, along with the bridesmaids had been secretly practicing this for weeks without anyone else knowing. When the lights dimmed, and the DJ put on some green ambient lighting, and the music started, everyone went silent - and Samara and Mark had us all singing along to Thriller by Michael Jackson.
